This is your captain speaking! Passengers who would like to take their taste buds on a journey are invited to Brussels South Charleroi Airport from 27 June 2019. Fasten your seatbelts, the first ever BURGER KING® is about to land at a Belgian airport.

It’s a tradition that has spread to all four corners of the world: “An airport break? A BURGER KING®!”. A habit that passengers at Charleroi Airport will soon be able to enjoy. Located in the new wing of the terminal, more specifically in hall 1 after check-in: the Food Court, on the mezzanine, Kevin Derycke, CEO of Burger Brands Belgium is thrilled with the position of the new restaurant: “Opening a restaurant right in the middle of an airport is always particularly significant for the BURGER KING® brand. We will be opening the very first airport in an airport in Belgium today. Belgian travellers will therefore now be able to enjoy the pleasure of biting into one of our burgers just before boarding or as soon as they step off the plane!” The brand of the WHOPPER® is already firing up its grill: on average, 25,000 passengers pass though Charleroi Airport every day.

Gérard d’Onofrio, Managing Director of SSP France and Benelux, explained: “We are delighted to be teaming up with Burger Brand Belgium and Brussels South Charleroi Airport with the launch of a brand new catering concept at Charleroi Airport. We can’t wait to introduce the airport’s passengers to BURGER KING® burgers.”

Philippe VERDONCK, Chief Executive Officer of Brussels South Charleroi Airport, continues: “We are delighted to be welcoming the first ever BURGER KING® at a Belgian airport today.

“We would like to acknowledge the hard work done by SSP, with whom we are working. Thanks to this relationship, we can help to improve our passengers’ comfort whilst offering them a wide range of products.

Our goal is to continue to develop airport facilities at Charleroi, working closely with all the teams that strive for the fulfilment of our goals to the benefit of our passengers’ experience”.

The restaurant, with a surface area of 80m², will be able to seat more than 250 people. The team of 20 employees will be serving passengers every day from 10.30am until 9.30pm as they prepare to jet off. They will also be able to enjoy all of the burger chain’s innovations, including the 3 digital ordering terminals.

Unbeatably tasty burgers

BURGER KING® stands out from other fast-food chains thanks to the specific way it prepares food.

At BURGER KING®, our burgers are only prepared after the customer has placed an order, and vegetables are chopped during the day in the restaurant. Without forgetting the characteristically flame-grilled burger in our iconic WHOPPER®. All of this guarantees the ultimate quality and unbeatable flavours”, explains Kevin Derycke.
