Brussels South Charleroi Airport is offering even more services to travellers: Opening of the new lounge and terrace

CP - Lounge

Charleroi, 15 October 2019 – Brussels South Charleroi Airport opens two new areas for passengers. As of 15 October, travellers will be able to take the time to relax in the airport’s new lounge. Opened last June, the airport’s food hall now features a terrace with views of the tarmac. The purpose of these two new areas is to make the passenger experience more enjoyable and respond to the demands of the airport’s customers.

In October 2018, Brussels South Charleroi Airport embarked on a series of projects designed to make the traveller’s experience more comfortable. A year later, the transformation is well under way, and the first results are being witnessed within the airport’s facilities. Last June, a brand new food hall opened to travellers.

A call for tenders to find a new partner to take charge of catering was launched in 2017. SSP, world leading travel food outlet operator, was awarded the contract after an in-depth analysis of its bid. Some prestigious and international brands, accompanied by concepts that live up to passengers’ expectations, piqued Brussels South Charleroi Airport’s interest.

Today marks a new chapter in the history of the partnership uniting SSP and Brussels South Charleroi Airport. Work on the food hall is coming to an end, and today, the airport presents its new lounge and terrace with a view of the flight operations.

With a surface area of 200 square metres, the new lounge at Brussels South Charleroi Airport features everything you need to prepare for a business trip. High-speed Internet, a relaxation area and food options offered by SSP: everything is designed to guarantee an enjoyable experience for travellers. This new lounge is also open to anyone else who would like to make the most of these facilities. You can book online via the airport’s website – http://www.brussels-charleroi-airport.com – or from the airport itself, for €25 online // €28 from the lounge.

As well as the food area, the terrace, covering 370 square metres, offers passengers the chance to see what’s happening on the tarmac, whilst enjoying a lovely meal prepared by the teams from the SSP group, or a cold drink.

Philippe VERDONCK, Chief Executive Officer of Brussels South Charleroi Airport, announces: “Brussels South Charleroi Airport is continuing to enhance its facilities and its image. Now established on the international stage, welcoming a wide range of passengers, it is important to adapt to all customers. The transformation of the facilities is the first step in our response to travellers. Indeed, by broadening what it offers, every kind of traveller can find what they are looking for at the airport. We are also proud of our partnership with the SSP group. What they offer also helps us adapt to different travellers’ needs, and together, we will continue to offer more to respond to the requests and preferences of our customers.

Gérard d’Onofrio, Managing Director of SSP France – Benelux explains: « Our catering range reflects our commitment to innovation and quality, and we are particularly proud to have been part of this fantastic renovation project alongside Brussels-Charleroi airport, with the shared goal of offering excellent service and an experience that lives up to travellers’ expectations. »
