Air

Between 2019 and 2021 inclusive, a study was conducted to assess the air quality around BSCA. The study, which is available online, showed that all the values imposed by our environmental permit are highly respected and even showed the impact of the road network around the airport on the decrease in air quality.

BSCA's carbon footprint was calculated only for direct emissions (Scopes 1 & 2) and amounts to 2,107 tonnes of CO2 for 2019 which is a decrease compared to the average of 2017 and 2018 (2,324 tonnes of CO2). BSCA is ACA Lvl 2 since March 2021

In order to reduce its on-site carbon footprint, Brussels South Charleroi Airport has, among other things, decided to purchase electric ground vehicles (baggage trailers, staircase trailers, tractors, pushback tugs etc.). To this end, the airport has installed two electric charging sites.
